The striking doctors have been told to stop implicating governors in their woes.
Speaking on Radio Maisha on Tuesday, Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu said the doctors signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the national government in 2013 without involving governors and it was only fair not to involve them in their current woes.
"The doctors signed a CBA with the government way back in 2013. However, they never involved the governors in the whole process and so it is unfair to link governors to their current woes," said Mruttu.
The governor, however, called on the government and the representatives of KMPDU to come up with a quick solution to the strike.
According to the county boss, the strike has paralysed operations in public hospitals thereby burdening clinical officers and nurses.
"The government and KMPDU should come up with a solution to this strike. It has taken a very long time and this has only made work hard for clinical officers and nurses with some operations that they cannot perform," added Mruttu.
The governor further said the jailing of KMPDU officials was an unfortunate thing that should not have happened in the country.
