Machakos Youths have been advised to desist from depending on the government for jobs and instead create ideas on hot start their own employment ventures.
Machakos town MP Victor Munyaka says that lack of jobs will be a thing of the past if youths are nurtured on how to create jobs.
He said while addressing the press at his office over the weekend, the large number of unemployed youths is a key issue that needs urgent measures.
The MP noted that if youths will be mentored and taught on various ways to create jobs or earn income then unemployment will not exist.
“The only strategy to fighting unemployment is by empowering the youths on how to create jobs,” he said.
The legislator observed that many youths especially those with university education have business ideas that is nurtured can turn things around in terms of employment opportunities.
The lawmaker encouraged both the national and the county government to develop programmes where youth talent can be monitored and developed.
Munyaka also asked the government to initiate more policies that will create job chances.
The MP further urged the private sector to partner with the government in order to address unemployment crisis.
