The move by Bomet governor Isaac Ruto has been dismissed by many especially DP William Ruto. However, veteran politician Raila Odinga has warned Jubilee against dismissing the Chama Cha Mashinani boss. According to Raila, Ruto has helped them to penetrate some Jubilee strongholds in the South Rift and other areas.
“Jubilee has a wishful thinking by dismissing Isaac Ruto. Nakuru is now a strong swing vote region. We will field a governor, senator among other seats,” Odinga said.
He also said the recent registration has given NASA an upper hand over Jubilee. The ODM leader said that they are going to the August 8 polls assured of a win based on their numbers and infiltration in the perceived Jubilee bases.
“Nasa has over ten million votes based on registration and Jubilee’s own document confirmed that NASA has more votes,” said Raila.
Odinga, however, dismissed the notion that the government has a sure portion of votes from what was considered his reserve. The Nyanza, Coast and Western Kenya regions have been pro-Raila for years but the constant visits and development records by President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto seem to change the loyalty on the ground something that Raila denies.
“Jubilee has no justification of penetrating our strongholds. We have Meru, Pokot, Marakwet, Keiyo and other areas,” he added.
