Locals in Uasin Gishu county have been advised to drink responsibly especially during this festive season.

County Secretary Peter Lelei has further warned drivers of both public service and private vehicles against driving while drunk.

This, Lelei said, will help minimize road accidents that have been on the rise.

Speaking in Eldoret, the Uasin County secretary further called on drivers to adhere to traffic laws and regulations.

He also asked traffic police and the National Safety and Transport Authority (NTSA) officials to enhance patrols on the roads.

"If everybody followed the set rules, there will be no accidents in our roads and this is why the police and NTSA officials must up their game and those found on the wrong side of the law should be dealt with accordingly," Lelei said in Eldoret on Thursday.

"For the locals please don't drink and drive. Those that will be attending parties, bash and any other kinds of celebrations should minimize on the use of alcohol," he added.
