Kisii University students have been warned against drinking water from the neighboring streams.
This was an appeal made by the University’s assistant dean of students brother Francis Kerongo who ascribed the streams to be creeks of feces.
This only comes days after a serious water shortage hit the suburbs of the institution forcing most of the students to fetch water from the streams for their use.
Kerongo has critically condemned the act though adding that it poses a health risk to the students.
“You should be very careful with water you drink, most of the water bodies you see around are feces!,” he firmly reiterated.
Most of the students living in the suburbia though have always defied the odds and developed an ingrained tendency of fetching water from the streams whenever a water crisis grows.
The students have however attributed their misfortunes to the varsity’s action of turning a recently constructed ultra modern hostel into an academic block hence the institution defiance in addressing accommodation issues.
Residents are now calling upon the Water and sewerage company to fully address the water shortage menace being witnessed in the area
