Limuru MP John Kiragu has lauded the measures put in place by the national government to curb examination malpractices.
Speaking at Limuru Primary School on Monday, the MP stated that the measures if well implemented, will prevent cheating in the national examinations which kicked off on Tuesday across the country.
The MP noted that exam malpractices have been the order of the day in the past years.
“I commend the government through the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) for coming up with stringent measures to tame malpractices,” he said.
Kiragu said there will be improved performance this year as a result of the measures taken by the government.
The MP asked candidates to keep off any examination malpractices.
“We urged our candidates not to be confused by selfish people who would want to lure them to dubious behaviour in regards to the examination,” said the MP.
At the same time, he appealed to law enforcers to ensure security is streamlined during this examination period.
The MP said the examination period will be successful is there is security.
He appealed to the police to intensify patrols and ensure nothing interrupts the national examination that starts today.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination starts today morning with at least 952,445 candidates sitting for the exam.
The KCPE exam will run until Thursday this week with the Kenya Certificate of Secondary (KCSE) scheduled to start on Monday next week.
