Cord leader Raila Odinga has urged African leaders not to fear America President-elect Donald J Trump.

Raila has for the first time commented on the US election after last Wednesday's results which declared Trump president.

The former Prime Minister said this while in Anambra State, Nigeria for a four-day visit where he is set to address a keynote speech at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

"America needs Africa as much as Africa needs America," he said.

"We should look at ourselves in Africa and not depend on others, if we must develop," Raila told journalists at Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu.
