Nairobi Women Representative hopeful Millicent Omanga has urged HELB to remove interest charge rates on unemployed graduates who are unable to repay their loans due to their lack of jobs.

Omanga said that the interest rate of 4 per cent per year is too high and that HELB should do away with it since unemployed graduates have no means to repay the interests while jobless .

"Graduates who are not working should not be charged interests on the loans HELB gave them during their time of study. The interest charges should be done to those graduates employed," she noted. 

She added that if elected, she will focus on empowering the youths and ensure that youths who abuse drugs and alcohol get rehabilitated in time.
