Two politicians from Kilifi have told President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to stop imposing gubernatorial aspirants on Kilifi residents.

Governor hopeful Kazungu Kambi and Lucas Maitha (Senate) said Raila and Uhuru were going against principles of democracy by imposing their preferred candidates on Kilifi people.The two are vying for elective seats on Kadu Asili tickets.They said Kilifi residents will vote for whoever they think has the capacity to change their lives for the better.“There will be no six-piece voting in Kilifi,” said Maitha at Matano Manne in Ganze constituency.“If you want votes, come and talk to us and then go away.”He said politicians outside Kilifi should stop taking residents of the county for granted.Kambi who left public service to join politics said it was time non-resident politicians learn to respect the Mijikenda community.He said the “Mijikenda people are not ‘yes sir’ people”.Jubilee and NASA campaigns are expected to roar in the county which largely leans towards the opposition.Incumbent Governor Amason Kingi and Raila’s close associate is upbeat he will defeat his rivals to win a second term in office and lead the county until 2022.He argues since he took over power in 2013, lives have changed through improved healthcare, road construction, agricultural development as well as supply of clean water to homes and institutions.
