A former Senator is against plans to 'force' Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Kenyans during the 2022 general election.
Boni Khalwale (formerly Kakamega) said on Tuesday that Kenyans are at liberty to elect president on their own and attempts to make Senator Moi president without the will of Kenyans will be resisted at all costs.
He made the remarks during an interview with NTV Kenya.
"There is nothing wrong with Gideon Moi becoming president but he should not be forced upon us by these families," Khalwale said.
"It remains unanswered why Chris Msando had to die, why Miguna Miguna had to be deported, why 34 of our youth had to die, and the role of political dynasties in this country in 2022."
There are claims across the political divide that there are plans by the families of Kenya's first president Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's second president Daniel Arap Moi and the family of former vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga to back Senator Moi's id for the 2022 presidency.
The claims also hint that the objective of the bid is to bar Deputy President William Ruto from taking over the presidency from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Members from the three families- opposition chief Raila Odinga, former president Moi and Uhuru have recently met.
