County governments have been challenged not to intervene with the activities of Kenya National Union of Nurses.
Speaking on Thursdays at Gusii stadium during the launch of International Nurses Week the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN ) General secretary Seth Panyako said the union knows what to do and there is no need for county governments to intervene into their affairs.
“County governments should respect our union because we know what to do, I am asking county governments not to harass union’s officials we are there to fight for nurses across the country,” said Panyako.
Panyako faulted some counties for not promoting nurses who have worked for more than ten years and said soon nurses in those counties are going to strike for promotions.
Among the counties, he faulted for not promoting nurses is Homabay, Siaya, Bomet among others
Panyako hailed Machakos governor Alfred Mutua by calling him the 'nurses’ governor' for his work of taking care of nurses grievances.
