Opposition chief Raila Odinga has urged ODM politicians party in Nyanza region to maintain peace during their campaigns.
Raila cautioned the leaders against hiring youths to cause chaos in rallies, saying the move would jeopardise his presidential bid.
“It’s like my own people are not concerned about my presidential bid. They know very well that by engaging in unnecessary political squabbles, this will scuttle my presidential ambitions,” Raila said as quoted by the Star.
He spoke in Bondo on Sunday where he noted that divisive politics along clan lines are some of the stumbling blocks denying him support from other communities.
“Other regions are ready to back my presidential bid, but politicians from my own backyard are busy fighting each other and propagating clannism over unnecessary reasons,” he said.
He stated that his efforts to get backing from almost every part of Kenya, would be in vain if the Nyanza leaders continue to engage in political fights.
“I enjoy support from the people of Coast, Eastern, Northeastern, Western, Nyanza and the Rift Valley,” he said.
