Mandera Governor Ali Roba has cautioned locals against being swayed by politicians using propaganda tactics to woo voters.

Roba claims that some politicians eyeing political seats in the county are spreading malicious propaganda against their opponents.

Addressing supporters at Mandera Town on Tuesday, Roba warned that propaganda will fuel animosity among locals if tolerated.

He asked politicians eyeing seats to campaign on issues and stop fueling malicious information.

“It is unfortunate that some of our rivals have resulted to using propaganda to campaign for votes, we (locals) must reject such people,” he said.

Roba said that politicians must exercise tolerance and spearhead peaceful polls, further urging the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crack the whip on politicians who fane violence.

“The NCIC and other relevant government agencies must be alert and crack the whip on hate mongers,” he said.

The Mandera Governor exuded confidence of retaining his seat in the August 8 polls, dismissing his rivals saying that they have no agenda for Mandera people.

Roba at the same time hit out at County Senator Billow Kerrow for forming his Economic Freedom Party.

The Mandera Governor dismissed the party claiming that it being funded to create disunity among North Eastern locals.

The Mandera Governor urged locals to back his re-election bid pledging to initiate more development projects once re-elected in the August 8 polls.
