Former CIC Chairman Charles Nyachae has thrown a scathing attack on Kisii politicians who ‘often’ make political pronouncements on behalf of the community without due consultations.

This comes moments after a number of leaders led by Kisii Deputy governor Joash Maangi publicly declared the Abagusii support to Jubilee government ahead of 2017 elections.

But the son of a former powerful minister Simon Nyachae believes that the politicians were misleading the public saying the pronouncement is a ‘boardroom’ affair that has no blessing from the community.

“Sometimes it’s good to set the records straight. While I do not have an issue with the community supporting a certain political faction but such move should be arrived at after thorough consultations with the people,” said Nyachae.

“It’s wrong for people to make boardroom decisions without involving the entire community that misleads members of the public," said Nyachae.

"The Gusii community is not for sale and it’s time for those pretending to be representing the views of people to get rebuked by the community,” he added with his jibe seemingly directed to Maangi’s group.

Nyachae challenged the politicians to engage electorates by holding open public rallies to ‘observe’ the mood on the ground before making declarations.

“You cannot generalise support of a community to a certain political party for your own gain. Instead, hold public rallies and ask the people about their feeling. Otherwise, we are heading to a wrong direction,” he said.

He also ruled out the formation of a single party for the community saying it will sabotage political rights and freedoms of electorates.
