Jama claims that there are propagandists running a negative campaign against his re-election bid, individuals who are determined to tarnish his e-election bid.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Jama asked his rivals to campaign on issues instead of propaganda.

“It is unfortunate that some of my rivals have decided to engage in propaganda instead of campaigning on issues,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

Jama said that rivals are envious of the development his government has achieved in the last four years and are out to taint it.

The governor stated that he will not be intimidated by blackmail from rivals, adding that he remains the best suited candidate for the Garissa people.

Jama has been engaging in heated debates with his major rival; former Permanent Secretary (PS) Ali Bunow Korane over development.

Korane, who is eyeing to unseat Jama claims that Garissa locals have been denied development by Jama's government.

The Jubilee aspirant accuses Jama of failing to spearhead development despite getting hefty funding from the national government.

On Sunday, Korane outlined his development agenda for Garissa people, pledging to create jobs, improve security and boost economy if elected as governor in the August polls.

Korane is backed by Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, who is also a critic of Jama’s administration.
