An MP allied to Jubilee Party has urged the Kamba community to ignore falsehoods being peddled by the opposition regarding the Government’s scorecard in the region.Machakos Town legislator, Victor Munyaka said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime had initiated transformative development in Ukambani more than any other elected Government in the country’s history.“President Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto have initiated tangible development projects in Ukambani more than any other known Government since independence and therefore the community must consider re-electing this Government in the coming general election,” said Dr Munyaka. He spoke at Kamuthanga secondary school in Machakos Town constituency while handing over a school bus purchased through National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.Dr Munyaka, who is among local MPs who joined JP last year said claims by the opposition that the region had been neglected by the Jubilee administration were false.Opposition politicians in the region led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have been telling voters that the Jubilee administration had sidelined the community and should therefore be voted out in the next general election. But Dr Munyaka cited the ongoing construction of the 72 kilometer Sh4.3 billion Konza-Machakos-Koma road, rehabilitation of the Yatta Canal at Sh2.2 billion, construction of East Africa’s largest multipurpose dam, Thwake at a cost of Sh54 billion, Kitui-Kibwezi road, as well as dueling of the Athi-River-Kyumbi junction as indicators of Jubilee Government’s commitment to transform the region’s economic fortunes."All these projects and many others are ongoing despite the fact that the region overwhelmingly voted for the opposition in the last general election, but this time we have a reason to vote in the current Government,” said Munyaka.Dr Munyaka also urged the community to shun politics of ethnicity, saying Kenyans needed a unifying government. “Kambas should not accept to be misled through ethnic deceit because we all belong to a larger tribe called Kenya,” said the MP.
