Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has warned National Assembly leader of Majority Aden Duale against forcing the Somali community into President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.

Aden alleges that Duale is forcing the Somalis to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the August 8 general election.

The MP told Duale that the Somali community cannot be forced or coerced to vote or support certain aspirants, adding that time when voters were forced to elect particular leaders is long gone.

“Duale and others in Jubilee Party must stop forcing the Somali community to support Uhuru’s re-election in August,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

The lawmaker asked Somalis to make their independent decisions in the August polls.

Aden further hit out at Duale, accusing him of allegedly running a smear campaign against elected opposition leaders in North Eastern.

He said that North Eastern is not a Jubilee zone and that Duale must respect opposition MPs who were elected by the people.

“We know that Duale has been running a ‘bad’ campaign against us but we are not going to be intimidated,” said Aden.

The Balambala MP said that North Eastern and the Somali community will vote for the opposition in the August polls.

The lawmaker said that Jubilee government has done nothing to better the living standards of North Eastern people.

On Monday, while addressing locals at Iftin Ward, Duale said that the opposition has no space in North Eastern.

He urged locals to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, stating that Jubilee administration has the interests of Somali community at heart.
