Kisumu, National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) Regional Manager, Esther Okwany, has urged residents not to leave in denial concerning drug and substance addiction.
Speaking during training session held at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu, she challenged their attitude since so many people are suffering and dying of the effects of alcohol.
"We are facing crisis. We need to look for avenues to intervene in the lifes of our brothers and sisters who abuse drugs," said Okwany.
"This course could not have come at a better time.Now that you are graduating please disseminate the information so that it can transform the lives of Kenyans," notes Okwany.
This is the first training to take place in Kisumu with 40 participants from the entire western region.
Okwany urged the participants to work closely with the provincial administration, county government to fight the alcohol addiction.
NACADA Regulatory Service Manager, George Murimi, said that the organization is working to set up four centers in Western region to train on the dangers of substance and drug abuse.
"Nairobi, Central and Coastal region are ahead of us," said Murimi.
