Don’t resign from committees North rift MPs urged

Sirisia Member of parliament John Waluke has warned North Rift MPs against resigning from parliamentary committees because they were de-whipped as chairman of the committees.

He said this is uncalled for and should be condemned with the strongest terms possible.

“Appointments were done by the leadership of this country that is the president and the deputy even me I was promised to be one of the committee chairmen but I did not get, were are not going to fight the leadership because I did not get the position,” he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.

“Those aggrieved should look for formidable solutions instead of issuing threats which might lead to divisions,” he added.

This comes after   Jubilee MPs from Rift Valley Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Silas Tiren (Moiben), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East) and Alex Kosgey (Emgwen) threatened to resign en masse from parliamentary committees after they were punished for defying President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto's directive that all Jubilee MPs support a preferred line-up for chairpersons and vice chairpersons of House committees.

He, however, warned opposition leader Raila Odinga against forcing himself to be sworn in as the people’s president saying it is against the constitution.

“In the first election, President Uhuru Kenyatta won and Raila Odinga went to court and in the second round, he withdrew how can he be sworn in yet he did not win. It now very hard for any person to be sworn in as president unless he becomes the president of Gor Mahia or AFC,” noted Waluke.
