ODM party leader Raila Odinga has called for the suspension of the passage of the proposed election laws.
Raila who spoke in Namanga during the burial of veteran politician John Keen said the passage of the laws was a recipe to election violence.
"We need peace now more than ever before," he said.
"Keep weapons in the barracks and let's play politics of policy and ideology."
He spoke two days after the Senate suspended debate on the proposed legislation that seeks to adopt the use of the manual voting system during the 2017 polls.
A week earlier, Parliament had controversially passed the same.
Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro pushed the Senate debate on the proposed legislation to January 5.
During debate for the proposed laws, police barricaded roads leading to Parliament.
