The national chair of the Committee on Citizen Participation in Security matters Joseph Kaguthi has urged Kenyans to cease from sharing terrorism messages on the various social media platforms.
Kaguthi disclosed that terrorists have started engaging in psychological warfare by using well-crafted messages and videos to disseminate propaganda of how their fighters have suppressed the Kenya Defense Forces in Somalia and parts of North Eastern and Coastal towns.
“I want to request wananchi not to share propaganda stories and documentaries on terrorist attacks and instead delete them immediately they come across," he said.
"Our military personnel get their motivation from the responsible citizens, and when we spread such messages of how the Al-Shabaab are winning, we tend to demoralize our soldiers,” he explained.
He also urged parents and teachers to keenly monitor changes noticed in their children, adding that such behavioral changes should never be taken for granted.
