Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged organisers of political rallies to ensure they don't pick venues near learning institutions for the political rallies.

Mandago reiterated the need for students especially those preparing for national examinations to have a good learning environment.

The Jubilee governor further told off opposition's proposal to have national examinations date adjusted to allow the elections to be held saying the future of the country's children was much more important than elections.

"I thought it should have been a concern of all of us politicians on how we are going to manage politics and examinations in a manner that our politics and campaigns are not going to affect the learning process in our schools," Mandago noted.

"...and I want to appeal to all those who are going to campaign that they should never put campaigns near learning institutions or they should never go to schools during as we want allow the learners particularly the candidates to prepare well for the exams," he added.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set October 17 as the date for the fresh presidential election.
