Kilifi governor hopeful Kazungu Kambi has warned rivals not to write him off, saying he will pull a surprise on them on August 8.

Kambi said his gubernatorial bid cannot be ignored or under-estimated. The governor hopeful dismissed political analysts and rivals criticizing his bid on grounds that he has no muscles to challenge the incumbent, Governor Amason Kingi.The former Labour CS also refuted claims that the quest for the Kilifi governor seat is a two horse-race between Kingi and Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro.In an interview with People Daily, Kambi said he will clinch the seat with a huge margin, as Kilifi people are yearning for him to be their next governor.“Kingi and Mung’aro should brace for a tough and humiliating battle on August 8 because I have the numbers to win the top seat,” he said as quoted by the daily.According to Kambi, his political and managerial experience is what Kilifi needs for economic development.He said if elected, his administration will focus on revamping trade and tourism. Kambi also pledged to create job opportunities, guarantee security and promote unity among locals. He termed Kingi and Mung’aro as failures who cannot provide the right leadership.The former CS is eying the Kilifi top seat on a Kadu Asili party ticket.
