The county boss issued the statement while reacting to protests led by Korane that rocked Garissa town over water shortage.

Distancing the GAWASCO water provider from the fiasco, the governor blamed his critics for hiring goons to tamper with the water lines across the town so as to gain political relevance.

"Some politicians are hiring goons to tamper with the water connections and here they come protesting. The tricks being used will not take them anywhere," the visibly angry Jama said.

"They cannot go round the towns carrying empty jerrycans and claiming that there is not a single drop of water when they know that it's them who hired some goons to block the same. Korane and company should desist from playing with people's lives. They think they will get votes by applying  unorthodox means as such,” he added.

He urged his critics to campaign using legitimate issues that do not undermine service delivery in the county.

The issue of water shortages in the county has been making headlines in the recent past with various political aspirants using it as a tool to downgrade the incumbents.
