President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit together with his deputy William Ruto to the Rift Valley has been hailed by many leaders, each talking of strengthening unity.
But Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua while also thanking Uhuru and Ruto for their visit coupled with the launch of numerous development projects, has bashed a section of politicians who used the forum to address their personal issues.
The Governor on Friday said elected leaders should not seize such opportunities to engage in politics and address personal issues.
“As leaders, it is wrong for any of us to use such a forum to engage in politics and address personal issues because it sends a message that dents our image in a big way,” said the county boss.
He said the move sends a message of opposition to positive development in the county and a sign of disrespect to the presidency.
“When such a thing happens, it shows lack of respect and only shows that there are leaders who are opposed to positive change in Nakuru,” he added.
Mbugua called for unity among all leaders in the county as harmony would spur the county to greater heights.
