Residents of Kisumu have told President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga not to set foot in Kisumu before NASA's National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna returns to the country and issued with a Kenyan passport.
The residents who made phone calls to Radio Jambo during a morning show said Miguna is a Kenyan and should be accorded the respect he deserves like any other Kenyan.
Miguna was on Wednesday night deported to Dubai en-route Toronto Canada where he holds his other citizenship.
"Uhuru and Raila should not come to Kisumu if Miguna is still outside the country," a one George Anangwe said adding that it was wrong for the government to treat the NASA lawyer it did even if he is not a Kenyan.
Former prime minister Raila Odinga on March 9 after meeting Uhuru at the President's Harambee House office he would accompany the commander in chief in nationwide tours to help unite Kenyans after a grueling campaign period that ran before the August 8 and October 26 repeat elections last year.
"What was the purpose for the handshake?" Norah Adhiambo asked. "We thought this had marked the end of witch hunt. Stay away from Kisumu."
Most residents blamed Miguna's tribulation on the Jubilee administration which they said was out to silence criticism.
Another caller, Silas Anangwe Oketch said Kenya will never unite with the kind of treatment the government is directing on opposition leaders.
Miguna has been calling for the ouster of Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto from office who he accuses of rigging the August 8 election.
Miguna's Kenyan passport was confiscated and destroyed by Immigration department officials following his arrest in connection to Raila's January 30 swearing in as the people's president.
