Residents of Taita Taveta County have a choice to make- vote for ‘clueless’ NASA leaders or performing and visionary Jubilee.Garissa Township MP Aden Duale said NASA leaders have served in previous regimes but have little to show to Kenyans. He said within the five years President Uhuru Kenyatta has led the country a lot has been achieved.He was speaking in Taita Taveta in company of Deputy President William Ruto.The Jubilee leaders are campaigning in Taita Taveta, a county that supports NASA to try and woo residents vote for Uhuru in the August election.Their visit comes less than a month after NASA leader Raila Odinga stormed the devolved unit and whipped emotions when he told residents to reject Jubilee since the administration had neglected interests of the people there.“You have an important decision to make, to choose to work with Jubilee and move forward with the rest of the country or NASA and remain forever in poverty,” Taita Taveta residents, in 2013, voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga almost to the man in an election that was controversially won by President Uhuru Kenyatta.Although the devolved unit is still considered an opposition zone the Jubilee leadership has been making desperate efforts to gain ground there- wooing some leaders to cross over from the opposition to the ruling coalition.Duale and Ruto after holding rallies in Taita Taveta flew to Tana River County where they were hosted by Governor Hussein Dado- another leader who was voted on an opposition ticket in 2013 but has since decamped to Jubilee.Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu who is one of Raila’s point men in Coast region, however, dismissed Ruto and Duale’s visit in the county.He said it was clear going by Jubilee’s weaknesses and poor development record Raila will win the August election and form the government that will run the country between 2017 and 2022.
