Garissa bodaboda operators have been urged to develop a saving culture.
This is according to financial expert and economist, Levis Tiwo, who says he has noted with regret how operators squandered all their day hard earned money and remain with nothing to save.
He says the reason most bodaboda operators do not ‘grow’' is as a result of poor financial management skills.
“It is very unfortunate that we hit the road all day long and spend all the hard earned money once without even thinking about the future," he says.
He added that the operators ought to understand that we never know or are sure about tomorrow and in that case should adopt a saving culture.
He outlines that saving does not only apply to the working class people in offices who have a pay slip but everybody.
“Have a goal. Know what you want. Financial prosperity is all about effective planning. Ask any rich person he will tell you have a goal and save,” he added.
He adds that banks look at ones statement and not appearances.
“It is not about putting on a suit that can earn you a loan that you can use to change your life but your financial statement,” he added.
“It can be a hard thing to start for you are tempted to use the money but the discipline you have will see you save and with time you will save more and more and get used to it. Be wise and plan well,” says Tiwo.
