Haji said that the ruling is a clear indication that the election process in 2017 was free and fair.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Tuesday, Haji said that the court ruling is a big win for Garissa people.

The former Defense Cabinet Minister said that Duale was validly elected in last year’s general election, adding that the National Assembly Majority leader's leadership will transform the constituency and the larger Garissa County.

“The ruling by the High court that validated Duale’s re-election was expected because the whole election process was free and fair,” he said.

Senator Haji asked elected leaders across Garissa and North Eastern region to work together and foster development in the region.

He said that it is a time the region benefited in terms of development.

Haji at the same time advised Farah Maalim not to appeal the ruling.

The Garissa senator said that the Wiper Party deputy leader will be wasting his time and resources appealing the ruling.

The High court upheld Duale’s re-election, saying that Maalim failed to provide evidence for nullification.

The former Lagdera MP was slapped with Sh6 million fine as the cost of the petition.

While welcoming the ruling, Duale extended an olive branch to Maalim, saying that he is ready to work with him.

Maalim has however vowed to appeal the ruling in the court of appeal.
