The fire broke out on Sunday evening at around 8.30 while the students were attending their evening preps.

The school principal Julius Changawa confirmed that the injured students were rushed to hospital and were in a stable condition.

"All the students are safe and we urge the parents to remain calm,"he said.

The cause of the fire has however not been identified, as investigations are still ongoing.

Area MP Kassim Tandaza was among the first to visit the scene and promised to unravel the cause of the fire and take the necessary course of action.

He further urged the students to remain focus and put in more efforts on their studies as everything was under control from the relevant authorities.

The incident happened barely a week after Msambweni secondary school was closed indefinitely following a botched attempt to torch a dormitory, by a group of students.
