Two members of the same family died almost at the same time in Nakuru and Nairobi on Wednesday.
Joan Onyango, a businesswoman in Bangladesh, Nakuru died a few minutes after receiving news of her daughter’s death. Her daughter Prudence Onyango had died in a road accident.
The daughter died after being hit by a speeding car. She is said to have died on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The mother, who has been struggling with high blood pressure, could not persevere news of the death of her daughter.
According to Gerald Onyango, Joan’s husband, she just collapsed immediately after receiving the call from a lady who identified herself as Prudence's friend.
"She fell down few minutes after receiving the bad news," he said.
"We rushed her to hospital but unfortunately she succumbed to death on arrival."
According to Samuel Owino, a brother to Prudence, his mother developed breathing problems immediately after the call.
“I were with her when she received the call. She got shocked. Later she developed breathing problems. She fell down and upon taking her to hospital, she died,” said Owino.
