Barely two days after Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama lost his son, county workers have downed their tools over delay in salaries payment.
According to the workers, the county has failed as well to give them a good reason to why they haven't been paid despite the fact they have been rendering their services.
Led by Edward Kabuka a unionist, the agitated workers on Tuesday blamed top county officials for threatening to sack them through a 'vague' head count exercise that was recently done.
"The county should know that we have families to take care of and we all know our and therefore there is no need to threaten is and we are not going to report work nor no office will be opened until our salaries reflect in our accounts" said Kabuka
The workers further said they will lock all county offices early Wednesday and gave deputy governor Amos Nyaribo 24-hrs to act.
Despite the workers holding peaceful demonstrations on Tuesday, they were not attended by any county official.
The workers are officially expected to down their tools today (Wednesday) if the salaries won’t reflect into their accounts.
