Forty eight people of Ethiopian origin have been arrested in Githurai.
The Ethiopians who were hiding in a house in Kimbo area of Githurai were arrested on Thursday by officers from Ruiru.
Police also arrested a woman said to be sheltering them together with a taxi driver alleged to have transported them to the house.
According to Ruiru police commander Isaac Thuranira, police acted on a tip-off from the public.
The reports said that foreigners had been holed up in a small room of deplorable conditions where some fainted.
"They were in a small rental house where we found some already fainting due to lack of enough oxygen," said Mr Thuranira.
They are currently being held at the Ruiru police cells.
