Speaking at Eldoret AIC church during a Christmas mass on Thursday, Ruto said that peace and unity of Kenyans is needed for realization of development goals.

The DP said that the government is keen to unite all Kenyans and work towards developing all areas without discrimination.

“Kenyans should remain united as we focus on fulfilling the development promises we made to them as Jubilee,” he said.

Ruto asked the church to be on the frontline in preaching unity and peace across the country.

He stated that the government will support campaigns and forums meant to bring Kenyans together saying that tribalism has for a long time divided Kenyans.

On security matters, Ruto said that all mechanisms are in place to protect Kenyans and their property.

He indicated that men and women in uniform are committed to protect the country saying that those accusing the government of failing to protect Kenyans are only playing petty politics.

Ruto said the government will not tolerate criminals and terror elements and that they will implement policies that will guarantee safety of the country.

The DP at the same time urged Kenyans to remember the poor this festive season. He said that the holiday season is all about caring for the less fortunate.
