Nakuru County Deputy governor Joseph Ruto has warned corrupt police officers in Nakuru that they risk being sacked.
He observed that police officers indulging in corruption and other criminal activities were embarrassing the entire police force and the government and asked the National Police Commission to take stern measures against such police officers.
Ruto said this in his office when he hosted Kenya Police Service Commissioners led by Chairman Johnstone Kavilundu on Thursday when the team that is currently vetting senior police officers in Nakuru paid him a courtesy call.
He asked the Commission to fast track police reforms which should include zero-tolerance to corruption and crime among police officers in the country.
“I am asking the commission to act fast and implement major police reforms. These reforms should of course include zero-tolerance to corruption and other criminal activities by police officers,’’ said the Deputy governor.
In December last year 15 police officers were arrested by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission officers while receiving bribes along Nakuru-Narok road while several others were also arrested in February this year along Nakuru-Nyahuru Highway.
