The government will invest more money in technology to curb crime and reduce cases of insecurity in major towns across the country, Deputy President William Ruto has said.
Speaking during the burial of the late Kabete MP George Muchai on Friday, Ruto said that the government is keen to use technology in order to curb crime.
He said that enough funds and resources have been set aside to buy modern security gadgets and equipments.
Ruto also said that the government will recruit more security officers who will be then deployed across the country.
“The government is keen on matters touching security and that is why we are investing in modern technology to deal with criminals.
The DP added that CCTV surveillance will be installed in every corner across major towns in the country.
Ruto however appealed to members of the public to support security measures being taken by the government.
He observed that security cannot be fully addressed by the government alone but requires the input of all stakeholders.
Ruto assured the family of the late MP that an investigation into the death of Muchai is ongoing.
He added that the government will use its resources to ensure the culprits are arrested and charged in court.
The late Kabete MP was killed last Saturday along the Uhuru High at the Kenyatta Avenue roundabout by unknown gunman.
