Deputy President William Ruto has finally spoken about President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s rivalry.
Speaking during a forum alongside Uhuru Kenyatta where a Jubilee government delivery portal was launched on Monday, Ruto said that the state has committed no crime by unveiling projects started by past regimes.
According to Ruto, who has vowed to rally the electorate behind Kenyatta for another term, Joho’s claims that the Jubilee government was attempting to hijack projects funded by foreigners are baseless and aimed at dragging the nation backwards in matters of development.
"We are in the government and there is nothing wrong in completing projects that were started by our predecessors, ignore the propagandists," Ruto said, as quoted by www.tuko.co.ke.
The deputy President, who is banking on President Kenyatta’s support to rise to power in 2022, also said that Joho is following the President for political gain.
The head of state and Mombasa county boss have been at loggerheads for a long term. Joho attributes the start of his woes with the President over the fight to protect Waitiki squatters.
Mombasa Senator has, however, said that the two leaders differed because of business. The remarks of the Deputy President come at a time when Joho is being probed for faking his academic results.
