Meru Governor Peter Munya said Thursday that Ruto has been working round the clock to have him defeat in the forthcoming general elections so that he can have smooth sailing in the 2022 presidential polls which he has also set his eyes on.

"I am increasingly being frustrated by the deputy president because he doesn't want any opposition for his 2022 bid in this region which he believes he is entitled to.He is the one sponsoring Kiraitu Murungi to try and stifle my ambitions ", he told KTN News.

He also accused Ruto of trying to frustrate his Party of National Unity (PNU)by constantly suing them in court after they refused to dissolve and join the Jubilee party.

However, the former Council of Governors chairman expressed optimism in retaining his seat and dismissed Kiraitu as having nothing new to offer.

He also fired a warning shot at Ruto over the 2022 presidential polls saying the presidency was not a two-tribe affair.
