This follows a bitter exchange where the Jubilee leadership has accused the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) of being funded by corruption cartels with the alliance on the other hand questioning why Jubilee is not prosecuting the cartels when it seems to know them.

However, speaking on Citizen TV Sunday, the DP denied having any information saying  that the government’s recent allegations that NASA’s campaigns are being funded by corrupt fellows including prominent business mogul Jimmy Wanjigi have been put in public domain by the media.

‘’The information we have that our competitors are being funded by corrupt cartels did not originate from us,we learnt about it through the media,’’ he said.

The allegations by Jubilee have evolved into a mudslinging competition with NASA now saying that Jubilee is bitter with Wanjigi for switching sides.

When asked why himself and the President are not taking the matter to the next level by having the suspect in question prosecuted, the DP said that there are independent bodies mandated with the responsibility  and they would not like to interfere with such bodies’ operations.

‘’Its not our job to investigate and prosecute corruption suspects. There are institutions tasked with such roles and ours is to ensure that they operate smoothly by allocating them funds,’’ he said.

The two sides are also warming up for a tough encounter with each keen on beating the other on the August 8 general polls.
