Deputy President William Ruto has refused to give an elaboration on why he was snubbed by retired president Daniel Moi despite a prior appointment.
A statement from Moi's Kabarak home indicated that the former strongman had an appointment with his doctors that frustrating Ruto's visit.
"Unfortunately, this coincided with the time Mzee was undergoing routine physical exercise with his doctors," read the statement.
The visit came slightly a day after the DP, who has been embroiled in vicious war of words with the Moi family, apologised to those 'he had wronged' before.
Through his Director of Communications David Mugonyi, Ruto termed his visit as 'private' thus dismissing calls to elaborate what had transpired.
"This was a private visit. If it was a public visit, the Deputy President Would have informed the media," he said.
But Kipchumba Murkomen, a close confidant of Ruto, blamed Moi's son, Gideon, of plotting to humiliate the DP.
"As chairman of Kalenjin MPs, I have time and again sought an appointment we go visit Mzee but its complicated. Those opportunities are given in bits like Panadol by his son."
