Deputy President William Ruto has called for a peaceful coexistence between the two levels of government.

Speaking while closing a three-day Governors' workshop in Diani, Kwale county Friday, Ruto urged the Council of Governors to join hands with the central government to facilitate better service delivery to Kenyans. He said that unlike in the concluded term where the two were involved in a bitter exchange, with a section of county chiefs accusing the President Uhuru Kenyatta led-administration of scheming to kill devolution, the two must work together."Its the government's expectation that we will work together and embrace better and more civilised venues of sorting out our differences. We don't expect shouting matches from any side as that is a very pedestrian way of raising our concerns," he said.He added that the Jubilee regime is fully commited to ensuring that devolution succeeds.According to the Deputy President, the government is ready to assist the county governments in any way to ensure that Kenyans are fully served and development is achieved in the shortest time possible."We already have priorities identified through research for every county. We want to help county governments to deliver where the are disadvantaged," said Ruto.

The workshop that saw Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok retain his seat as Council Of Governors chair was opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
