Deputy President William Ruto has thanked the Church for its efforts to preach peace, unity and harmony in the country during the just concluded year. 2017.Through a tweet on Sunday, the DP also commended sportsmen and women for their exemplary performances that saw the Kenyan flag sway high. 

He thanked patriots and selfless Kenyans for making the country great and urged them not to drop the spirit in this new year 2018."We thank the Church for its untiring efforts to preach peace, unity, harmony. We pay tribute to our sportsmen and women for their exemplary performances and raising our flag high; to patriots for their selfless acts and each citizen for playing their part in making Kenya great," Ruto tweeted. Ruto urged Kenyans to rededicate themselves to the service of the neighbours and the nation at large. "As we usher in 2018, let us rededicate ourselves to the service of our nation and be mindful of the wellbeing of your neighbour, friend and family. In the words of our National Anthem: "Let all with one accord In common bond united Build this our nation together," the deputy President added. The Church contributed to a peaceful Kenya, called for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga in bid to make Kenya peaceful and united.
