President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga on Friday morning held a meeting at the Harambee house in Nairobi in bid to unite Kenyans.
Deputy President William Ruto took to social media to commend the two political icons and rivals for holding a meeting and showing Kenyans that indeed unity is still on course in the country.
Ruto said the two have shown great love for the country for rising against ethnicity and division bred by politics that has been a great threat to the country's well being.
"Congratulations PRES.UHURU & RAILA for being statesmen. You have risen to the moment for kenya and against hate, negative ethnicity and division. The unity, stability and transformation of kenya supersedes all other partisan interests. Wangwana mubarikiwe mpaka mshangae," DP Ruto tweeted on Friday.
This was the first time the two were meeting after the hotly contested August 8 general elections that brought about a political mixup in the country almost rendering economic development in the country still.
The main agenda for the meeting was to unite Kenyans and let the country move forward and build its economy. They expressed their desire to put aside their differences and reconstruct the nation's damaged state.
