Deputy President William Ruto has termed violence that broke out in separate incidents at Kisumu and Kabarnet as ‘unfortunate and punishable.

On Wednesday, the DP was forced to cut short his speech after Kisumu locals booed him before stoning presidential motorcade.

Several miles away in Ruto’s Baringo home turf, opposition leader Raila Odinga was also forced to cut short his speech after a section of crowd turned wild against him in Kabarnet.

“It is quite sad that people can decide to violate peace and start engaging is running battles. It is unfortunate and punishable,” he said during his Thursday’s tour in Nyamira.

“We must try to tolerate one another. We ought to revolutionize our politics and set a good example to our young generations,” he added.

He also urged politicians to engage opponents soberly without necessarily disrupting their rallies and other major events.

Similar scenario was witnessed in Kiambu when former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was forced to flee from Thika after a group of rowdy youths stoned his motorcade.
