Deputy President William Ruto has defended the recent amendments to the Election Laws Act 2016 passed by the National Assembly in December.
The amendment seeks to allow IEBC to establish a manual backup in case the electronic transmissions fail.
Ruto dismissed calls by CORD to push the elections dates slated for August 2017 to allow for more time to sort out the election reforms.
He spoke as he hosted Trans Nzoia county leaders at his Sugoi home.
The amendment of the election law 2016 has been highly contested by leaders from the opposition side claiming that it a plot by the national government to create a loophole where they can rig the elections.
The senate is yet to pass the bill.
