Deputy President William Ruto has eulogised the late Yvonne Wamalwa, widow to former vice president Kijana Wamalwa. 

Ruto remembered Ms Wamalwa as a beautiful, accomplished diplomat who performed her duties with excellence and commitment.

Speaking during her burial in Milimani, Kitale on Saturday, Ruto noted that Yvonne had a powerful trait that won her admiration and compliments.

"Yvonne Wamalwa was a dutiful, accomplished diplomat who performed her duties with excellence and commitment. Mrs Wamalwa epitomised resilience and humility, a powerful trait that won her admiration and compliments," said Ruto. 

"She took delight in bettering the lives of the disadvantaged and always rose to the occasion when called upon by her family, community and country. Rest In Peace," the DP added. 

The widow died last month while undergoing treatment at the Nanyuki Cottage Hospital .
