A scheduled meeting between Deputy President William Ruto and former President Daniel Moi failed to take place at his Kabarak home today, Thursday.
In a statement to newsrooms, Moi's office said Ruto's visit coincided with the former president's routine physical exercise with his doctors.
DP Ruto was accompanied by Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter, Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut, and lawyer Stephen Kipkenda.
“Former President Mzee Daniel Arap Moi was visited today by Deputy President His Excellency William Ruto at his Kabarak home. Ruto who was accompanied by Energy CS Charles Keter, Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut, and lawyer Stephen Kipkenda were welcomed and had lunch at Mzee’s Kabarak home,” read a statement from Moi’s office.
“Unfortunately, this coincided with the time Mzee Moi was undergoing routine physical exercise with his doctors. Mzee Moi agreed to meet the visitors at a convenient time another day in the very near future."
This comes three weeks after National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga met Moi at his Kabarak residence.
Odinga said he had gone to wish the ex-president well after he jetted back in the country from Israel, where he had gone for medical check-ups.

The two leaders also discussed the state of the Kenyan nation, including the March 9 handshake between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, during the visit that lasted more than one hour.
