The meeting between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony has reignited stiff rivalries at the South Rift once again in as many months.
At Bureti on Sunday, Chepkwony, a second term Jubilee county boss, described Moi as a 'gentleman' adding that there is nothing wrong to work with him.
"The senator is my friend and he is a gentleman. I do not see the reason why people cannot work with him," he said in local dialect.
Both Moi and Deputy President William Ruto are fighting over the control of the populous Rift Valley region in which the later has dominated for over a decade now.
And through his allies, Ruto seemed agitated with the meeting, claiming that the governor is a betrayer.
"Governor Chepkwony and Moi have been friends for a long time and what they are trying to do is scare tactics," said Hillary Koskei of Kipkelion West.
His Belgut counterpart Nelson Koech said: "We understand these antics and we shall handle the matter. You cannot claim to be in Jubilee yet you are dining with opponents."
