Through his allies Samson Cherargei and Aden Duale, the DP has promised to fight viciously to defend his name which he believes is unfairly targeted in graft war.

"War on graft ought to be done in good faith. That is what we expect. It should not be informed by succession politics," said Cherargei.

A number of legislators from Ruto's Rift Valley backyard believe that the war on graft is a wide scheme to discredit the DP before 2022 polls.

The recent focus on Ministry of Energy parastatals such as Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Power headed by Joe Sang and Ken Tarus respectively, they say, it is a ploy to make Ruto look bad.

"You can clearly see that some of these actions follow a predictable pattern. We may have chosen to remain silent for now but if things continue this way, we shall unleash," one of them told Sunday Nation.

With a number of them blaming President Uhuru Kenyatta indirectly, some who spoke in confidence to the Sunday Nation have threatened to come out and speak their mind on war against graft.

But Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe, a confidant of President Uhuru, has dismissed the outcry from Ruto's camp insisting that the corrupt should carry their cross.
