Rivalry between Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could further escalate on Friday, a day after the later failed to meet retired president Daniel Moi.

For two hours, Ruto was kept waiting at Moi's Kabarak home despite having secured an appointment to meet the retired president on Thursday.

Already, politicians allied to the DP led by Kipchumba Murkomen have linked the ordeal to Senator Moi, who is expected t battle for presidency against Ruto in 2022.

The two political bigwigs are expected to meet at Baringo for the burial of Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim given both claim supremacy in the region. 

Moments after the DP' humiliation at Kabarak, even though Moi's handlers claimed that the retired president had a date with doctors, Tiaty MP William Kamket of KANU, insisted that the Ruto had not booked an appointment.

Last year at the burial of Mark Too, a long time confidant of senior Moi, Gideon and Ruto traded barbs in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto's botched Kabarak meeting came a day after he had unreservedly apologised to the country over mistakes he may have committed.
